Haywood Academy has already created a successful school community built on co-operation and learning. We’re one of the best performing non-selective schools in the region and OFSTED rated us “Good with Exemplary Features”. We are very conscious that at 16 our students’ journey is not finished.
For students already studying at Haywood Academy, staying with their school sixth form provides continuity in their learning and an environment where they are known and which encourages the highest standards.
Students moving to Haywood Sixth Form Academy from another school will have a stress-free transition. We will make sure that they have chosen the right course and are making excellent progress right from day one. A personal tutor will care about their progress and wellbeing. Groups will be small so students will be given the time they need to share thoughts, ideas or concerns to make sure the outcomes are great for them.
To study A-levels at Haywood Sixth Form Academy students will need five GCSEs Grade A* – C including maths and English. Specific criteria apply to each course. See courses for further details.
To study BTEC courses students will need three GCSEs Grade A* – C including maths and English. Students will be required to study two GCSE subjects alongside their BTEC courses. Specific criteria apply to each course. See courses for further details.
Applications for the Work Based Learning programme will depend on the availability of the job opportunity students want and their attitude.
We are offering a wide curriculum choice based on what students need to access the best universities – some of them in other countries – or to access jobs or apprenticeships. The curriculum has been tailored to suit each and every one of our students whatever their interests and long-term plans.
